ROME
And all of a sudden we were at the end of our tour. What a way to go out - Rome in all her glory! We took in as much as we possibly could. Lots of walking, too many statues and antiquities to count and terrific food. We ended our last evening with a group dinner. There were smiles all around, but it was hard to say goodbye to our new friends.
We like to try things our guidebook suggests, so after our time in Vatican City we decided to try the public transportation. We hopped on a bus at its first stop and had our choice of seats. By the time we reached our destination, the bus was so packed we couldn't move. After pulling the cord to stop and standing up, people were pushing at us for our seats rather than letting us through to get off. We sat back down, only a little panicked. At the next stop we were very loud and pushy...and the people parted. Lesson learned: don't be meek.
